Brief
While working as a web designer at Leicester College I was tasked with the redesigning their suite of websites (main site, employers site, and Sue Townsend Theatre site).
The brief, in a nutshell, was to create a more aesthetically pleasing way of displaying the site’s content, while ensuring it could be easily updated by someone who doesn’t possess any web design or coding knowledge.
As the same wire-frame was going to be used across all three sites, it was important that any design decisions would work across all three platforms.
Solution
The brief was achieved by first updating the sites colour palette in order to give it a brighter, fresher appearance.
Next, the content was allowed more breathing space, set into an obvious hierarchy which guides the user through the site.
Finally, the site was developed using WordPress by Leicester design agency Cite. This ensured it was simple to update the site’s content.
After launch, the College noticed a dramatic drop in course enquiries via telephone as more users could now find all the information they required online. Enquiries to hire Sue Townsend Theatre also significantly increased, leading to 2018 being their busiest year to date.
